A time-hike through 2000 years' history within Fourvière and the Renaissance Quarter between Rhône and Saône.

Spread out over two hills, the " praying hill " and the " labouring hill ", LYON is run through by three rivers : the Rhône, the Saône and History.

		Let us follow the flow : Ready, dive in ! The Capital des Gaules is well-worth such a cultural immersion ! Oh ! That Lyon's tale could be told ! One can read that LYON/LUGDUNUM was founded in 43 B.C. by someone named Lucius Muniatius Plancus, under Rome's orders. Wrong ! counters TEO (East-West Tunnel). While it was bored under VAISE some celtic civilisation's significant relics were uncovered, which date our city back to much earlier in time... Known at the time as CONDATE, which means confluence.
		Then, after many short-lived naming, one vacillated between LUGDUNI or LUDUN. The final word was the archbishops' : during the XIth century they decided upon the name of LION, choosing as emblem the animal synonym with Resurrection.

DAY'S PROGRAMM : (can be down-fitted to half a day) To start with, a heartfelt welcome over a cup of coffee, in order for us to give you the customary recommendations as well as hand over the material you will need for the itinerary quiz-game. Then the teams' departures are staggered and the urban adventure is all yours ! All through the day, our itinerary's emphasis will be on historical details and anecdotes. This hike offers : - access to significant museums : Musée des Canuts (Silk Workers), Musée Gallo-romain - a fun discovery of the cultural and historical landmarks of Lyon : Fourvière, the Renaissance Quarter and its " traboules " (covered passageways), the Presqu'île, the Croix-Rousse and its " traboules " (covered passageways). Various samplings of lyonese food specialities will be offered. To close the day, a cocktail will gather all participants upon arrival, a favoured time to share and discuss the day's emotions. We shall then proceed to the teams' placing and hand out diplomas of " Lyonnitude ".
